A poem. Past feelings after coming to the realization that my marriage was over. |
Virtue lost without trepidation, hope clamors on The valiant knight has been thrown from his steed Lying on the ground, he has become a mere mortal Still the knight fights on, relentless in his valor No longer with a queen to serve, or justice to prevail The knight wages battle, that is what he has known He will soon wither and die, there is no war to win The demons now are within, taken hold inside No more passion, no more truth Empty feelings buried like shallow graves Still near the surface, but no longer viable Just an old memory, a comforting past Only here to fill in the empty spaces His heart still beating, a faint pulse to prove he is still alive Alive, but not sure if he is among the living He lives in the dark, walks within the shadows Soul emptied out, no one left to make it whole The very love that was born within his heart Is cast about, littering the earth, thrown away without cause With each thrust of the sword, the knight weakens A small piece is taken away, no honor is left to hold Soon he succumbs to himself, and just gives up Like a garden flower, he turns, then twists, then dies The realization that there is nothing more, causes the death The light is no longer attainable, never was Once this is seen, the hope recedes Easier to reach, but so much further away Lost within the bounds of reality, it disappears from view He had only one thing, that being a knight Once there became no one to serve and protect He was no longer what he had been Ordinary is not good enough for some He would rather die with honor, than live just to exist |
