Drifting through a crowd of familiar strangers,
Their faces known yet not.
Nervous smiles waver on mouths
As minds struggle to string the words.
A high pitched laugh
Just a little too loud,
Betrays a their sense of
I don’t know what to do.
Uneasy fidgeting occupies nervous hands
While thoughts of some one say something
Echo through the mind
Which begins to wander.
Time really does works wonders
As the familiar is now the strange
Did you really push the swing
For me when I was small?
Gradually the ice begins to break
The smiles become easier and the laughter natural,
The words start to flow and conversation
No longer needs to be saved.
It’s funny, the people were strangers
Despite the connection of blood
They are more similar than they think
For no one knew what to say to the familiar stranger.
