A sci-ficition story
FINDING HER PEOPLE

Old man – Who are you?
[Evidently startled, Isabelle turns to see her greeter. (In front of her is elderly man; dark brown skin almost as dark as slate, wings eminent from his back which are black, the man is tall and hefty looking yet his weight takes on a muscular tone; his well-shaped arms could be seen through his sleeveless garment but the lines on his face that are more evident up close give away his true age.) Isabelle freezes for a moment and for the first time she can put herself in the same role of others, people that she always through she was so different from. Isabelle is in shock from the size and pure intimidation of this man - just being in his presence; Isabelle attempts to collect herself, she does not want to give out the appearance that she is afraid. Isabelle takes a heavy breath and looks down.
Isabelle glimpses the end tips of her wings that protrude further then the mans and seems to reflect on what she really is and her connection with this being]

[Isabelle is evidentially intimidated by Hales; partially cause of his large physical built and foreign appearance and does not respond immediately. Hales looks around Isabelle seemingly expecting others to be with her; when he realizes she is alone]
Hales - What do you want? (Hales is growing impatient and nervous about this young ladies presence).
Hales - What do you want? (Still apprehensive)
Isabelle - (Quietly) I got your message...
Hales - Is it possible?... Sara’s Daughter!

[Isabelle nodes her head in confirmation; removes her cloak and reveals her striking wings; Hales stares at Isabelle for several seconds then suddenly a small smirk is noted in his face which quickly transforms into a wide smile, then laughing as he runs up to Isabelle pulls her into his arms and embraces her tightly; Isabelle appears puzzled by the strangers intimate greeting but does not resist the friendly greeting; it appears evident that Isabelle is not accustomed to embraces and tries to reiterate his warmness unsuccessfully to her credit]
Hales - (Hales while gripping onto Isabelle’s arms pulls her back so that he can see her more clearly and looking directly into her eyes) I can’t believe it, it’s you... I’ve waited so long... I have so many questions.
Isabelle - (Scoffing) You have questions? (Expressing sarcasms)
[Isabelle shakes her head back and fourth]
Isabelle - Not to be rude, but who are you?
Hales - Of course, I am Hales...(quietly spoken with an indication of reverence in mentioning Isabelle’s Father) I was a close friend of your Father.
[Isabelle gently pushes her way back; looks around her as she adjust to her new found reality - that she is not alone]
Hales - I have stayed on this planet for all most two decades for the ever-fading hope that I would one day find you.
Isabelle - But why?
Hales - For a promise I made to a devoted Father - Yours.
Isabelle - Do you understand? I have never laid my eyes on a living being in my life that has remotely resembled me until this day. (Brief pause) Why was l left here if I don’t belong to these people?
Hales - You ARE Sara’s daughter?
Isabelle - You mean - My Mother and Father...
Hales - Yes Isabelle
Isabelle - So their relationship was consensual
Hales - Of course... yes... child (Pauses; places his hands tightly around his face then pushes them back to his forehead, grasping tightly his head and seeming to ponder before he removes his hands from his face and looks back up at Isabelle) ... (Stated with a sad realization) What do you think of us. (Pausing) After all these years why should I be surprised? (Appearing to reflect on his experiences) Most of the original settlers were killed off. (Pausing again) But enough of that. Come (Waving in the direction of his hut) we must eat.
Isabelle - Enough? I didn’t come all this way to not get answers. Who am I?
Hales - These is plenty of time for that (As Hales continues to walk in the direction of the hut) Now is a time to celebrate. (Isabelle is left standing there; confused about her encounter)
