A Mother's Prayer


Little one, my sweet little one.
Time to close your heavenly blue eyes.
The angels have hung all the stars in the sky.
Time now to sleep, your day now is done.

Your angelic face, with turned up nose.
Precious curls and tiny rosebud mouth.
Such a bundle of joy, you are to me.
From the top of your head to your wee toes.

Grow tall and wise. Be all you that you can.
Be there always for Daddy to help him along.
There will be hurdles along the way.
Promise me always to brave and stay strong.

Little one, my sweet little one.
Rest peacefully through the night.
A new day dawns as you awake.
Look upward for I have taken flight.


Little one, my sweet little one.
At night when you close your eyes.
I will hang the stars up in the sky and
Watch over you when your day is done.
