4 children on a highway in China, alone in the wild, hungry, dirty
Tonight,
I lay on the ground
hunger biting me
in the darkness
I hear all the misery

I could sleep in the lap
of my mother earth
and sleep in peace

Hunger would be my strength
nakedness my clothes

If I could share
If I could share
Yes, If I could
My fate and my hopes
with my brothers and sisters
In the arms of the love
of my world, of my people

I could hope for another day
and despair could not, it could not
come in the door

Here, tonight
I lie on the floor
beside that fateful door

Long the stars
have wheeled overhead
in that eternal night sky
over people with no bed
not fed

If I could share
Yes, If I could share
My fate and my hopes
with my brothers and sisters

In the arms of love
in the embrace of my world,
of my people
hopelessness could not, it could not
come through the door

The wind moves across me
around the floor
stirring my worry
and stealing tomorrow

no peace in the night
and the day ignites
the linear machine
straight on through

the rows of us
of us all
