A poem about celebrating our natural beauty!
Hollywood Disease

They stand around
And twirl their hair
and pop their gum
A Hollywood Disease.

They grin and fake
And tan and bake
And have you
Begging pretty please.

No, I’m not tall
I’m not thin
My nose in books
Instead of fashion magazines.

My hair’s alright
My clothes get tight
I need more self esteem
I think too much
I live inside a dream.

But,I won’t change
Not for them
Not for this ,
A Hollywood Disease.

I pretend not to care
Pretend not to compare
The mirror glares at me
My chubby cheeks
My crooked teeth
Are staring back at me.

My little rolls
My dimpled thighs
are there for me to see.

I raise my VOICE!
I make my CHOICE!

I am
BEAUTIFUL
BEAUTIFUL
BEAUTIFUL
Like me

Not
beautiful
beautiful
beautiful
Like you
A Hollywood Disease!
