A POETIC STORY DEDICATED TO MY 2 YOUNGER SISTER WHOM I LOVE VERY MUCH-- I HOPE YOU ENJOY
PRECIOUS
HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THIS WORD PRECIOUS....................
A WORD THAT WILL ENHANCE ALL OTHERS
A WORD USED FOR BABES .... BY MOTHERS
USED BY KINGS ,TO TELL OF THEIR RICHES
A WORD NEVER TO BE USED AS VISCIOUS

I'VE OFT PONDERED THERE MUST BE A WORD BETTER
YET DAYS OF WONDER AND SLEEPLESS SLUMBER
I'VE YET TO FIND NARY ONE--- NAY, NOT EVEN THE FIRST LETTER
THO SHELVES OF TOMES , I HAVE PERUSED
NAUGHT THEY OFFERED, THAT COULD BE USED

SO OFF TO THE ANCIENTS I DID FLEE
TALKED WITH ERATO___ PLATO___ AND EVEN SOCRATES
BUT NAUGHT THEIR WISDOM, TOMES OR SCRIBES
COULD OFFER UP A WORD THAT WOULD BETTER DESCRIBE

I LEFT FOR THEBES , SPARTA AND MACEDONIA ON THE WAY
YET ALL THE WISDOM OF THESE LANDS,HAD BEEN BURNT, OR CARRIED AWAY
ALL I FOUND WAS RUBBLE
FROM GREATNESS ,GONE ASTRAY

SO OFF TO PATMOS -- THAT GREAT ISLE
TALKED THERE WITH PAUL AND JOHN, SPENT QUITE A WHILE
THEY HAD TO LEAVE, FOR MUCH THEY HAD TO DO
AND MY HEART WAS SAD, TO PART FROM THESE TWO
BUT OFF THEY WENT, SAYING GOD BLESS IN HEBREW

DOWN TO THE HARBOR I FLED, WHERE THERE WAS A SHIP AT DOCK, A GREAT ROMAN MAN-OF-WAR
THE CAPTAIN YELLED--- DEAR STRANGER "COME ABOARD"
EVE WITH US THIS NITE , FOR WE SAIL HIGH TIDE , ON THE MORROW

WE'LL DRINK SOME FLAGONS OF BREW,
AND PRAISE THE GODS,
SING AVES AND HAIL CAESARS, AND SPIN A TAIL OR TWO
W'ELL SUP AND DRINK INTO THE NITE
AND SAIL ON THE MORROW, AT FIRST LIGHT

SO ABOARD I WENT AND SPENT THE NIGHT
I WOKE VERY LATE, THE SUN WAS HIGH AND VERY BRIGHT
FAR OUT TO SEA, NO SHORE IN SIGHT
AFTER MANY DAYS ON THIS SHIP PRISTINE
WE LANDED ON THE SHORES OF PALESTINE

SO FLED THE BOAT FROM WHENCE I COME
SOJOURNED TO A TOWN CALLED JERUSELEM
THERE IN MID TOWN, THE TEMPLE I FOUND
TALKED WITH THE HIGH PRIEST, CIAPHUS, AND SOME PHARISES, NICODEMUS AND SOME SADDUCEES

THERE SPENT THE NITE, BUT WOKE WITH A START
REMEMBERING WHAT THESE MEN HAD DONE,AND IT FROZE MY HEART
THEY CROWNED MY SAVIOR WITH A RING OF THORNS
NAILED HIM TO A STAKE OF CROSS
LEFT HIM TO DIE, AND FELT NO LOSS

I BID THEM SHALOM AND THOUGHT NOT EVIL
FOR GOD HAD SAID, HARM THEM NOT, THEY ARE MY PEOPLE
SO OUT THE EAST GATE OF THE CITY I FLED
DOWN THE MOUNTAIN TO THE SHORES OF THE SEA OF DEAD

THERE AMONG THE CAVES AND CAVERNS
I FOUND SOME CLAY JARS AND MANY URNS
OPED A FEW, AND SCROLLS I FOUND
ANCIENT WRITINGS DID ABOUND
I READ THEM ALL, AND WAS AMAZED
AT ALL THE KNOWLEDGE GAINED THESE MANY DAYS

SO ACROSS THE SEA OF GALILEA I WENT,
INTO THE VALLEY OF THE KINGS
SAT THERE AMONG THE TOMBS AND READ
THE HIERGYLFICS AND OTHER THINGS
YET NOTHING THAT I READ ON WALL
WOULD HELP ME AT ALL

NORTH ON NILE I WENT, INTO THE LAND OF PHAROAH
AMONG THE SPHINX AND PYRAMIDS AND OBLYXS OF OLD
I MET A MAN, A SAGE, A SOLVER OF DREAMS ,
SO I WAS TOLD
HARK, AND HEAR THESE WORDS I SPEAK

THE WORD YOU SEEK IS NOT INFALABLE
YOU 'LL FIND YOUR ANSWER IN THIS PARABLE
IF THE FIRST WORD ENHANCES THE SECOND
IS IT NOT POSSIBLE THE SECOND CAN ENHANCE THE LATTER, BETTER

AFTER PONDERING THIS PARABLE OF WISENED SAGE
I CAME TO END THIS PILGRAMAGE
FOR THE WISDOM OF THIS HOLY MISTER
THE ONLY WORD IT COULD BE
WOULD BE MY ..........PRECIOUS : SISTERS

A POETIC STORY:
BY JERRY BROWN

praise god for these beautiful words
