A Sense of place brings perspective into lifes true value.
As I sit. Deep in thought. In this place - I drift into the silence.
How can I explain this silence?
It is not unpleasant, it is still.
Yet within the stillness, it is surrounded with light and life.
I close my eyes, tuning into my very being.
With my hands I feel the grass protruding between my fingers, reaching for the sun.
There is a warm glow to my face that travels to all my extremities.
Although my eyes are closed, I see a light.
A light much brighter than any sun; even if in reality it is the sun.
I have within me a feeling of achievement
yet it is stretched throughout my body; Tension, but not tension.
The gentle cool breeze dances with my hair.
Like the soft strokes of a hand; I feel overwhelmed by the respect being given.
She toys with me
Plays with me,
Confides in me.
I hear her whispers as she calls my name - I listen.
I hear. I hear, the running of water in the distance.
A rustle of paper with faint voices attached to it.
High in the sky, I hear the birds singing.
Singing there praises for what society has left them.
Sparse, compared to their ancestors.
They are grateful, it appears! For they know no other - or do they?
They fill the air with love and laughter, hope and compassion.
Their lives are of freedom.
A symbol of peace.
As I begin to open my eyes I recognise the place where I sit.
This still place.
This peaceful place.
A place of respect and emotions.
My vision is of the symbol of peace, sweeping across the front of one stone.
A resting place.
A place that says so little but expresses so much.
I talk with you; God bless you.
I weep with joy, with loss, with grief for all that surround you.
In person, I know you not.
Yet I am deeply connected to you; you are my blood.
Born 1921. Lost 1943. Found at last, Chatham Navel Memorial.
My Great Uncle who rests with so many family ties.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
You are our history, our future.
Your lives shine on within us forever.
The unexplainable silence is peace.
A translucent living light at the end of the tunnel.
You are part of it. We are all, in our own way.
In our own time, the right time.
When the clock stops ticking.......
Peace reigns.
