The leaves are all gone They’ve fallen to their death
Crisp Winter
By Shannon M. Murphy
2006

The leaves are all gone
They’ve fallen to their death
Colorful leaves
Have laid to rest
The lonely tree skeletons
Slowly sway in the breeze
They look so naked
Without all their leaves
Winter is creeping
Its well on its way
Sledding, hot cocoa
And bitter cold days
The colors will fade
Into a creamy white
It’s a yearly battle
And falls loosing the fight
Marshmallows and milk
Will drip from the sky
And the suns warm light
Will whisper good bye
Roads will be cleaned
And perfectly glazed
Icier nights
And longer days
The breeze won’t be gentle
It’ll snap at your nose
The snow will sneak up
And bury your toes
Branches will shiver
Flowers will disappear
everything is changing
Because winter is here
