Her friends had told her to forget him. But she just couldn't. The moment she saw Nicholas lie motionless, she knew she had lost everything.
But the worst thing, her reason for falling to the floor, was that just before Nicholas had gone, he had led her to the living room, with his hand over Karen's eyes.
When he removed his hand, she saw that a giant fire was glowing in the corner, and roses were thrown everywhere. Their rich scent filled the room.
Nicholas led her over to the couch, and kissed her gently, handing her a little box.
