4 thugs come up with the idea to rob a dope dealer.
As Junior sat in the back seat of the beat-up Cadillac, he felt uneasy. It was a hot, muggy night and sweat ran down his back. Being the son of a Baptist preacher he knew robbery was wrong, but being a child of the streets he couldn't see anything morally wrong with robbing a dope dealer. Especially someone who had caused so much pain and despair in his own community. He didn't have a problem with robbing one of T.J. Brownlee's stash houses where he kept some of his dope money. No the problem wasn't robbing him, the problem was getting caught. You get caught robbing a bank you go to jail. You get caught robbing T.J., you die. Also, he wasn't sure about the two losers, his ex-con friend Big Mac had recruited to help with the job. Mac had already done eight years for armed robbery.
Junior had met Mac at a temporary work agency, not long after Mac had been released from the pen two years ago. Junior had once loaned Mac 100.00 when he couldn't get a dime from his own family. Mac had appreciated it so much, he paid Junior back double what he owed him. No one had ever trusted Mac like that and he couldn't forget it. Mac was a good ally to have when you ran the streets.
Pee wee was just a petty criminal looking for a big score. Any money he got from the robbery would be blown having a good time. He didn't know the meaning of the word save. Vic was an ex-con former small time dope dealer. Neither one could be trusted.
They all sat in that hot beat up Caddy about 50 yards down the dead-end street from the small frame house where the money was to be delivered. Somehow, Vic had learned that T.J.'s guys dropped off money at this location on Tuesday nights. They'd pick up the proceeds from several crack houses and street dealers in this part of town and drop it off at this small unsecured house. The take could be close to $50,000.00 according to Vic.
"With the loot beign brought to this place I can't believe, it ain't locked down better." said Mac. "Hell, he don't even have burglar bars on that place. Vic you sure this is the right place?"
"Hell yeah, it's the right place. T.J. keep it like that cause won't nobody believe he leave big money in a house like that. And he think he so bad, ain't nobody gonna mess with it even if they know his money is in there"said Vic.
Vic was right. T.J. had rose to the top of the dope heap in this town by sheer brutatlity. There were quite a few families that had lost sons and brothers because of T.J.
They had been waiting and watching for about three hours and everybody was starting to get a little antsy. It was now about 2:30 a.m. Junior was just about to say let's wait until next Tuesday when headlights turned onto the narrow street. A black Cadillac Escalde turned into the small driveway of the house. A young man about 25 got out of the driver side with a cigarette dangling from his lips and a pistol in his right hand. A short fat guy about 30 got out of the passenger side. The fat guy opened the back door and removed a medium sized duffel bag. Whoever, was in the house had to be expecting them, becuase they opened the door as soon as the Escalade doors slamed shut.
"You sure he only keep 2 guys in that house ? asked Pee Wee. "Yeah, that's right. Even if it's 1 or 2 more we can handle it said Vic.
About, 5 mintues later, the young guy and the fat guy walked out of the house. They got into the SUV backed out of the driveway and drove off.
"O.K. let's give it another 7 or 8 mintues said Mac. "Does everybody remember the plan? "Yeah we got it said Junior.
Junior and Mac were to go to the back door and Vic and Pee Wee were going to the front door. As they were banging on the front door, Junior and Mac would kick in the back door. Junior looked down at the 9mm Glock in his hand. He thought" This is a bad idea." but it was too late now. A few mintues later Mac cranked up the car and eased down the street with no headlights. When he was about 20 yards from the house he stopped and turned the motor off. "All right, let's go" he said. They all exited the vehicle and crept closer to the house. As they got closer, they could hear rap music coming from the house. "Good" Mac thought They sure won't hear us coming." When they entered the small yard, Mac sprinted to the back, with Junior right on his heels. Right as Vic banged on the front door, Mac drop kicked the back door. The door flew open and with one swift motion Mac. raised his Colt .45 and fired 2 rounds into the startled young man standing there. The .45 knocked him against the wall and he screamed as he slumped to the floor. Junior was stunned, for the first time it hit him that this wasn't just a robbery, but murder also. Mac looked at Junior and growled "Come on." From the back door where they entered as the kitchen. A small hallway led to the front of the house with 2 rooms on the left and 1 on the right. Mac had taken 2 steps into the hallway when shots came from the room on the right. Mac shouted "Damn" as a bullet struck him in the side. He turned and fired 4 rounds into the room. Another round hit Mac in the chest. Junior almost ran out the back door when he realized the shooting had stopped in the house, but started outside. He shakily raised his pistol and stepped over Mac,who was lying there gurgling blood from his mouth. He peeped into the room where the shots came from. There was another young man lying there somewhere between life and death, but closing in on death at a rapid pace. The kid had 2 holes in his chest and 1 in his leg. On a bed next to hime was the duffel bag. Junior grabbed the duffel and quickly looked into the other two rooms in the hallway. They were empty. The shooting outside had stopped also. He ran to the front room and looked outside. The SUV had returned. Vic was lying motionless in a pool of blood by the front door. Pee Wee as dragging himself down the sidewalk, but fell over. The fat guy from the SUV was lying flat on his back in the middle of the street. He must have been shot, but Junior couldn't tell. The other guy from the SUV was sitting proped up against the vehicle with a bullet hole in his chest.
Junior was stunned, but he was no fool, he it would only be mintues before the cops got there. As he ran out the back door, through the alley, holding the duffel bag.He said under his breath "I knew this was a bad idea."
