About losing love and tempting fate |
Water’s Edge I step to the Edge Waiting for the tide to subside Always waiting for the wintry coolness To find calm within my dispirited soul That pines for you forevermore. Quietly I mourn For the day of agony is near Death of our love I fear Time to say goodbye Tears of grievance flow from the darkened skies Clouds of Euphoria all that consoles me With their ever changing forms of wonder Allowing me to understand the meaning of being free Crying out for feelings that have long ago passed us by To two souls that fit together perfectly Omission is the same as lies And that you refuse to see Taken in by another’s eternal beauty. In my eye you’ve dishonored us By giving up on what once was. I see the flow of water Running deep into the precipice The drop is overwhelming familiar. I step to the water’s edge where the waves, They lap against the receding shore line In all their timeless repetition They wait ever so patiently Unwilling to see me leap out into the unknown Carrying out what is left of my destiny. I walk down the path of despair Healing the wounds of time Feeling the unforgiving current Underneath the water I spin round and round For in the water’s Edge is where I willingly drown. |
