The Rise

Some prefer the sunset,
but I prefer the rise.
I'm much too optomistic
than to dwell on its demise.
The cool air and promise
of a day that's yet to come.
The colors of the earth
are more pure from the sun
when there's not the memory
of the dust and the heat,
and when all we measure
is time on our feet.
