Michelle and Elizabeth

Michelle and Elizabeth were the best of friends. They did everything together and

they went everywhere together. They had been friends since sixth grade and it had been a

very interesting friendship.  Although they were good friends Elizabeth had always been

a tad jealous of Michelle. You see Elizabeth was 5'1 and weighed 165 pounds.  She 

had hazel eyes, short shaggy brown hair and fair skin. Then there was Michelle. When

people looked at her there was only one reaction. WOW! She was drop dead gorgeous.

She had long, wavy, brown hair and green eyes that sparkled like emeralds. She was 5'5,

weighed 125 pounds and had THE perfect skin.  That did not stop her from

befriending Elizabeth in sixth grade when the other popular girls were picking on her,

and that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

         It was a rainy Saturday morning when Elizabeth's phone rang. She assumed it was

Michelle calling to cancel their skating date they had planned because of the weather but

to her surprise it was not. It was Xavier Mendez, detective with the Malibu Police

Department. She was wondering what in the world he could still have to question her

about Anita's death three months ago when he dropped a bombshell and told her that

Michelle had been murdered.

Elizabeth couldn't grasp what he was saying. How could this be? Not even a full

three months ago Michelle was calling her to tell her that Anita was dead. Now the

detective was informing her that her best friend for six years was gone. That someone had

killed her. How can this be happening? They had just gone to the movies Friday after

school. She hung up without saying anything and sat in her room for the rest of the day.

         All of the craziness started about three months ago when Anita, Michelle's step

sister was found dead at the Carson School Carnival.  Everyone was devastated,

especially her boyfriend Jason. They had been going out together for three months before

Michelle thought that Jason was a great catch and decided she wanted him for herself. 

Which would explain why Michelle was the prime suspect for months until the police

could find no evidence tying her to the murder and declared the crime a cold case.

There were no feelings of shame from Michelle because Anita had ruined her life the

very day she moved into her father's house with her mother.

Anita was from a poor family that never had much growing up and had no means

to make it better. Her mother was a stripper at The Snooty Fox, which was where

Michelle's father had met her.  The very day Anita moved into the house Michelle's world

came crashing down. Not only did she have to share her room with this disgusting, messy

girl,  but she found out that night that she had been sharing her boyfriend as well. Anita

snuck out of the house at midnight and Michelle followed her hoping to find something

to get her in trouble. To her surprise she followed Anita to Justin's, her boyfriend for two

years. She thought it was odd that Justin's brother Shane would be interested in Anita

because she was so much younger but oh well his problem. Just as she started to turn

around and go home she saw Justin come out of the house and Anita followed him to his

car.  Michelle followed as well and was astonished when she got there to find Anita and

Justin having sex in the back seat. She was devastated but she did not say a word,

however, she did silently vow to herself sweet revenge.

         On Friday, the following week after the show she had gotten, Michelle invited

Justin over to the house. Anita had choir practice and would not be home until 4:00 and

their parents would not be home until 8:00 because they had a dinner party, which left

plenty of time to plot. Michelle's friend Mike was really into Anita but she would not

give him the time of day so Michelle figured today she would make his day. She told

Mike that Anita wanted to meet him in her room because she wanted to get to know him

better. Later that afternoon as Justin showed up Anita was walking into the room and

Mike was waiting. He gave Anita a hug and as he started to lean in for a kiss as Michelle

and Justin walked through the door. Both of them gasped at the sight and you could see

the anger immediately on Justin's face. Oh well! Michelle turned and at that moment told

Justin the reason she had invited him over was to break up with him because they had

gotten too intense and walked out of the room with a smile on her face that could never

be duplicated, and poor Justin, well he just slumped out of the house.

         Then two weeks later Anita was found dead at the Carson School Carnival. She

had volunteered to work at the carnival cleaning up but never thought that her body

would be what the other volunteers would be picking up. She had been hit over the head

with something heavy from the back. There was no sign of a struggle so she must have

died right away. You would not have to be rocket scientist to figure out why Michelle

was the first suspect. After months and months of investigating and interrogating

witnesses, the investigators never found a clue as to who could have committed such a

terrible crime.

         A month later Michelle and Jason had become pretty close and he hung out quite

often with her and Elizabeth.  Everyone seemed to be bothered about this but Elizabeth

understood what was going on. They were both upset about Anita's death and they turned

to each other for support. She defended them every time someone had something to say

until people eventually stopped commenting. After a month went by Michelle and Jason

were a couple and there was no mistaking it. Again people started talking and Elizabeth

did her job as a loyal friend and kept defending.

         Elizabeth still felt close to Michelle even though they did not hang out like they

used to and when they did Jason was there too. One Friday morning as Elizabeth was

getting ready for school she saw that a new movie was coming out and thought that she

and Michelle could go watch it after school.  During third hour she told Michelle and she

agreed that they would go.  When the last class bell rang the girls caught up with each

other and to Elizabeth's surprise the first thing Michelle said to her was "Are you gaining

weight again?" That caught Elizabeth so off guard she was speechless. How dare

Michelle say something like that to her after everything she had done to try and slim

down. Michelle realized that she hurt her feelings and apologized. She said it must just be

the sweatshirt, but the damage was already done. Elizabeth went the movies with her

friend halfheartedly and did not accept her offer of popcorn. The whole movie was a

blur and all she could keep thinking was that Michelle was turning into one of those

people. She couldn't shake the sadness she felt from her friends remark but she was still

looking forward to their plans they had made the following afternoon.

         Saturday morning Elizabeth awakened with a wonderful new feeling that she

could not explain. The skies were cloudy and it was raining but nothing could bring her

down. The phone rang and she was sure it was Michelle but to her dismay it was the

Malibu Police Department calling to inform her that Michelle had been found dead in her

bedroom and it was being ruled as a homicide. The tears started streaming from her eyes

as she hung up the phone. Why is this happening she said as her mother walked in the

room. Elizabeth called Jason to find out if he knew what had happened. He was a wreck.

Apparently he had received a call before she did and he was in no shape for talking so he

hung up.  One day later they found out that Michelle had died from strangulation

although there were no marks or signs that showed it. Three days later they laid her to

rest next to Anita and Michelle's mother.

         This took its toll on Elizabeth and no one saw her very much for a couple of

months. Her parents were worried because she would not come out of her room and her

school administrators were threatening to kick her out of school because of absences. It

had been two months since Michelle's death when Elizabeth came out of her room.  At

first glimpse you would have thought that she had gained some weight but to look closer

you would see that she was pregnant.  Detective Xavier Mendez dropped by to see

Elizabeth when he found out she was out of her room and was surprised to see that she

was going to have a baby. This rattled him a bit because throughout both of the murder

investigations Elizabeth had never hung around anyone other than Michelle. How could

this have happened and who could the father be?

         This caused the detective to start thinking in a whole new direction. He

questioned Elizabeth about Michelle and could see that she was not very emotional to be

talking about the death of her friend. He then asked who the father was and she said

Justin. That surprised the detective and definitely gave him reason to believe that she

could be involved in both murders. The detective dismissed Elizabeth and immediately

went to the judge to obtain a search warrant for Elizabeth's house.
         
         Elizabeth was not home when the investigator showed up at her house and began

to search her room. He pulled clothes out of her drawers, and looked underneath her bed

but could not find anything. As one last desperate measure he turned her bed over and to

his surprise underneath a slat was a journal.               

         Elizabeth pulled up to the house not long after and you could see the panic in her

face. Somehow she was able to calm herself down and regain her composure before she

entered the house, and she should thank God for that. When she opened the door there

were at about five officers in the living room and she lost count as she walked through

the rest of her house. She could not help thinking what would have brought them here. 

So many questions were running through her head. Was someone else dead?  What was

going on? Did the police have a new suspect? Had someone come forward? 

Unfortunately the only way to get answers would be to find Detective Mendez, so she

better get to it.

         She opened her bedroom door and was horrified to see Detective Mendez holding

her journal. She had hidden it so carefully. "What are you doing in my room?" she

screamed at the top of her lungs. The detective only looked at her and shook his head.

Again she yelled "Why are you here what is going on? Why are you reading my journal?"

She broke down in tears because she knew that it was over and things were never going

to be the same again.

         The detective grabbed Elizabeth by the arm and asked her to have a seat. She did

and then there was nothing left to do but explain what was going on and how things had

gone so terribly wrong. Detective Mendez advised Elizabeth to start at the beginning and

explain what was written in the journal and this was the one chance she had to make

things right, so she started in on her story.

         Elizabeth got tears in her eyes as she started telling her story and detective

Mendez was in awe. He could not believe the things that were coming out of her mouth,

and he was sick to his stomach when she revealed the motive for the death of her two

friends.  It was like one sick, twisted soap opera and boy was detective Mendez 

determined to put someone away for a long time.

         Elizabeth started off by saying that she was torn apart by the recent events and

that if she could go back and change things she would in a heartbeat. She stated that it

was a few weeks ago when Justin approached her and told her that he wanted to be her

boyfriend. Elizabeth was so surprised because she did not think that she was much of a

catch and was sure Justin could have done better. All that aside, she said yes and they

became a happy couple. Of course Anita was already dead and Michelle was totally

wigging out over Jason so no one ever noticed their relationship.

Justin was very forceful with Elizabeth and she had become afraid of him, so

afraid that she was scared to break up with him. He told her things, things that had

changed her life forever and there was no one she could tell because he would kill her. He

killed Anita because "she was a tramp and everyone on campus had been with her". She

had never been faithful or lived up to her word. The whole time they were together she

kept telling him that she was going to break up with Jason, but she never did. She just

strung him along until he could not take it anymore.

         That is when he snapped for the very first time and decided that Anita must die. It

was at the carnival when he saw her go behind the Titanic inflatable with a guy from

Algebra class named Mark. "You stupid whore" he said. "You will get what you

deserve". After he saw Mark come back out Justin went back to find Anita pulling up her

pants. In a moment of pure hatred he swung the bat and hit her in her head so hard she

never had a chance. Then he froze and after realizing what he did he ran. He never did

say where he hid the bat, but he sure did use it.

         Detective Mendez just stared in disbelief. How could a kid so young commit such

a terrible crime? What is this world coming to? Unfortunately he was not finished with

the questioning. There were things in that journal that implied that Justin was also

Michelle's killer and he needed to get to the bottom of that horrid story as well. Elizabeth

was trembling terribly by this time and did not want to go on but the truth had to come

out and she was the only one who knew what it was.

         Elizabeth started off by reminding everyone how crazy about Michelle Justin had

been. She explained how Michelle had broken up with Justin and that again had sent him

on a rampage. He said that he could not understand why that had happened and he was

determined to make her realize what a mistake she had made. How he made what he did

to her undetectable no one will ever know, but on a Friday night right as Michelle was

getting ready for bed, he did it. He took a phone cord with him but at the mere sight of

her he could not go through with it. He was still madly in love with that girl. Instead he

went back to his house and did some research. He then came up with the perfect plan. He

went to Carson Medical center, where he used to volunteer. He still had a badge and was

able to get in through the emergency department. There he hooked up with Rita, a nurse

he used to have a fling with, and she gave him her key to the med cabinet. There he found

it , a drug that causes temporary paralysis called suxamethonium.

         It was midnight by the time he made it back to Michelle's house and she was fast

asleep. He threw a rock into her bathroom to startle her. She awoke and looked around

her room. He said he could tell she was frightened but she had no idea what was going to

happen to her. She carefully got out of her bed and looked around as she headed towards

her bathroom. Unfortunately she never mad it. Justin crept up behind her and put his hand

over mouth and injected her with the suxamethonium. The usual dose to induce paralysis

safely is 1 mg/kg but he had given her 3mg/kg. He sat there with her and watched as the

panic came over her face when she could no longer take a breath. A tear dropped from

her eye as she took her last breath ever Justin then grabbed the syringe and ran back to

the hospital. He dropped it in a sharps container in the emergency room confident that no

one would ever know what he had done.  Detective Mendez just shook his head as

Michelle finished her story. That was a lot to take in but there was something that just

wasn't right about the whole thing. He did not believe for one minute that Justin pulled

these crimes off on his own, but he left and went to talk to Justin.

         After the detective left Elizabeth breathed a sigh of relief. She went to the police

station and just sat there. An officer asked her what she was doing there and she replied

that she was scared and just wanted to be here where nothing could happen to her.

Meanwhile Detective Mendez was pulling into Justin's driveway with a couple more

uniforms. When Justin answered the door he was shocked and immediately asked if

something had happened to anyone else. Wow was this kid quite the actor Detective

Mendez thought to himself and then proceeded to question him. He asked about the

murders that had happened in the past few months and about Elizabeth as well.

         Justin broke down, he told the detective how much he had loved Michelle but had

cheated on her with Anita. It was not because he even liked Anita but because she had

blackmailed him. One day Anita had caught Elizabeth in what looked like a

compromising position with him and said that she would tell Michelle. The truth was

Elizabeth was always trying to get him to sleep with her and on that night she had failed

yet another attempt. He had gone to his car after football practice to find Elizabeth there

with her shirt off. He was trying to get her to get dressed and go home when Anita

popped up. Michelle would never understand after Anita added her twist to it so he

agreed to whatever Anita wanted in return for her silence.

         For months Anita had blackmailed him into sleeping with her and he was

miserable. One day Michelle had invited him over to house so they could spend some

time alone while her parents were gone, but to his surprise when they went to her room

there was Anita and some guy making out. He said he was disgusted by the fact and the

next thing he knew Michelle was ending things with him and he was just confused and

hurt.

         Nothing that Justin and Elizabeth said was adding up. He was getting two

completely different stories. There was only one person left to talk to and maybe just

maybe he could get what he needed to solve theses cases and give the family closure.

There was a knocking on the door and when it opened Jason was surprised to

Detective Mendez standing on his doorstep.

         Detective Mendez cut to the chase and started in on Jason with the same questions

he had asked Elizabeth and Justin. Unfortunately Jason had no clue what was going

between any of them. He did say that Elizabeth had been really upset, more upset than

usual the past week. He stated that he was worried that the stress was going to harm their

baby and he had told Elizabeth to talk to him but she never opened up.

         "Whoa! Elizabeth is having your baby?" asked detective Mendez, obviously

caught off guard.. Jason responded by telling the detective that he and Elizabeth had been

together and she is about three and a half months pregnant. Detective Mendez asked how

that could be when he was involved with her best friend. Jason simply replied that he had

been seeing Michelle and Elizabeth at the same time and that he loved Elizabeth and they

have been together for the last six months. At that moment the light clicked and detective

Mendez knew that he had solved the cases

         At the police station Detective Mendez looked over his notes and discovered

something that was brilliant. He noted that earlier Elizabeth had implied that Justin was

some kind of love sick murderer but when you look at the total investigation and the

reports the fingers point to her.  Elizabeth had told the detective that the father of her

baby was Justin but Jason had just informed him that he was the father of her baby. It all

made perfect sense now. Justin had also stated that she had a thing for him, which could

definitely explain the need to get rid of Michelle and Anita. It was now time to talk back

to Elizabeth and get to the truth and make an arrest.

         Detective pulled at Elizabeth's house about ten minutes later and told Elizabeth

that he had spoken to Justin and Jason and that their conversations had led him back to

her and that if she did not start talking he would make it very hard for her. Elizabeth was

terrified and she started biting her nails and crying. She kept thinking to herself how

could her perfect plan have backfired. The detective asked her to start from the beginning

can she did.

         She started with Anita. She knew that the little whore had been blackmailing

Justin in to sleeping with her and that just killed her because she wanted him. She kept

insisting to Michelle that Anita was up to something and that is why Michelle followed

Anita the night she found them together in his car. Elizabeth knew that Michelle was

going to see because she had been following Anita for a week herself. She new that once

Michelle saw that that would be the end of them, and her plan worked out perfectly. 

Then she saw how devastated Justin was and how he just ignored her and everyone else

and she decided to eliminate the reason for his pain and suffering. Anita was working at

the Carson school carnival and Elizabeth knew that would be her last night she would

ever be able to hurt anyone.. As far as going behind the titanic inflatable, that was true

Elizabeth watched all of that. It was repulsive and that made it even easier to kill her

because she was just slutty, no good user, and black mailer. She came up behind her as

she was getting dressed and hit her as hard as she could with the very broom she was

going to use to clean up.

         After Anita was gone Michelle of course grew closer to Jason but had no idea that

Elizabeth and Jason had been seeing each other already. Of course this meant that there

was one more person who needed to be eliminated. Elizabeth said she almost did not go

through with it because they had been so close, but the thing that had pushed her over the

edge was the comment Michelle had made about her weight. How dare little miss I get

everything I want judge her and comment on how she looked.  Elizabeth had always been

jealous of Michelle but she thought that she was different that was until Jason started

seeing her. Then she knew that Michelle was just like the rest of them- stuck up and stuck

on themselves. No one else mattered and neither did their feelings. She had to die! The

part about Michelle being drugged was accurate, but the person responsible was

Elizabeth.

         Elizabeth had stolen the suxamethonium from the clinic she had been going to for

prenatal care. She had overheard her doctor talking to a drug rep about it. It sounded

perfect because Elizabeth knew that she could get Michelle to try just about anything and

killing her would be an easy task. The night Michelle died she was grounded and

Elizabeth just happened o had snuck in to hang out with her in her room. All she kept

talking about was Jason and how she thought there was something going on and blah blah

blah, and how her parents were so awful and blah blah blah. It was nerve racking to hear

about all her problems in her perfect world so Elizabeth said she offered her a way to

escape. Michelle accepted ever so graciously and when Elizabeth injected her she fell to

the floor with panic in her eyes. All Elizabeth could do is laugh. "You are a rotten person

who destroys peoples lives for enjoyment. You were never anything to Jason because me

and my baby are everything to him. You are just a dirty little slut who finally got what

you deserve!!" Michelle ran out of the room as Michelle started to turn blue and she

finally felt free, free of the humiliation of being a nobody when your so-called best friend

was at the top of the pyramid. She went home and had no regrets. All she could think

about was how she was going to respond when the call came in when they found her.

         As detective Mendez finished typing up the report Jason came in to see him. He

was appalled by what had happened and he had nothing to do with any of it. He saddened

him that someone he cared so much about was a psychopath. His only concern was for

his child. What was going to happen to her since Elizabeth was obviously going to do

some time. Detective Mendez assured Jason that upon a complete investigation to rule

out his involvement, he would have sole custody of his daughter after she was born.

         Elizabeth was committed to a maximum-security psychiatric hospital for 15 years

to be followed by a prison sentence of 25 years given she is eligible to be released.  She

gave birth to Adriana  six months later and Jason was given sole custody immediately

following her delivery. Elizabeth had lost all that she had been fighting for and after a

month of being without her daughter and Jason she could not take it anymore. The

orderlies took breakfast to her that morning and when they returned with her lunch they

found she had  hanged herself in her room.
