A poem of despair
Ghost Town

Dust. This is barren.
We are barren.
A ghost town
lies between
paradise
and all that is good.

A child laughs beyond.
A tortured sound that hollows
a void in my soul even more than there was
A silence disturbed.

Eyes sting.
The sun beams malevolent and mighty down upon me.
Thirst like this has no quench.

I have never known decay like this.
Corruption , lust , filth , and greed has devoured the soul of this place.
The people are starving.

A small church stands in the center .
Pure and white a mockery of the dust that thrives here;
its bells ring with a false hope.

I stand at the gallows. The crows have eaten
the eyes of the condemned and yet they see
A stone angel nearby weeps for the righteous.
