I was bored and couldn't get the "Evil Kitty Cat" out of my head. |
The wind blew lightly as a woman stood in front of a pile of debris that now stand where a house once stood. The woman's light brown hair was blown into her hazel eyes by the wind as she continued to stare wide-eyed at the burned grass and pile of ashes. A small boy stood a few yards behind her, holding a cage with a little white mouse. The way the child was holding the cage you'd think it was what was going to save his life. Sweat beaded down his forehead and into his brown eyes as he waited for the woman to turn around. The woman's attention was finally turned from the mess to the scared boy. "What the heck happened?" The woman almost shrieked in a high pitched voice. The boy's shoulders went up above his ears as he ducked his head and held the cage in front of his face. ”It wasn't my fault." "Then who destroyed my house!" The woman shrieked again. "The kitty cat did it." The boy looked at the ground beneath his feet. "Don't lie to me." The woman glared at the child, which just caused him to duck his head lower. "But I'm not," the boy mumbled moving his gaze from the ground to the small mouse that was twitching its pink nose at the boy. "Explain." The woman eyed him suspiciously. "The cat really did blow up the house. He saw a cute little bunny rabbit, so he started to shoot and throw explosives at it. Then he saw a cute ducky so he just blew up the house to get both of 'em. He was shooting at me, too. There was nothing I could do." The boy looked into the woman's eyes as he finished his tale. "Oh, really... Felix." The woman looked to her right and made a clicking noise with her tongue. Seconds later an orange striped cat walked over to where they stood. "I don't suppose this would be the cat you're talking about." The boy nodded his head. "That's not possible; he's been at the vet's all morning." The boy's face became longer as he looked at his feet. "So, what really happened to my house?" "Umm." The boy looked at the woman again, then to the house next to the charred property where they stood. "Well?" "That's your house." The boy pointed to another house. "That has got to be the stupidest thing, you've..." The woman stopped mid-sentence as she looked at the other house. "Oh, well,” The woman stood speechless. "Well, I guess you're forgiven, but you’re still in trouble for lying to me in the first place." The woman turned back to the boy. She grabbed his ear then dragged him over to the other house, while he yelled for forgiveness and to be released. |
