It's cold today, as I walk outside
looking at people busy at their lives
hearing the sounds so ordinary
of cars, of birds, and the slight winds
and all I can say
is that I love today.
Morning dawned so cold to me
I rushed in the shower, did the deed
ready to go out, to find my way
felt the warm sun on my back today.
As I waited for my ride, I felt my heart fill
let my body feel free, and my voice to still.
Here in the library tapping away
I found some new books for myself to read
hugged a small baby, a joy indeed
and the murmur of voices all around me
tell me I live, and I feel free.
Each moment a gift, it passes so fast
Each day a treasure, no matter what comes--
CARPE DIEM, the old saying goes
Seize this day, for nobody knows
what the morrow brings with the dawn,
we must live, grow, go on.
