about the rape I went through and the child I will have
His eyes fixed upon her,
Licking his dark lips,
She was but seventeen,
He had a daughter her age.

His thoughts went dark,
Wanting to feel the insides,
Of the young white girl,
Not caring that she was underage.

"Come to my place,"
He had said,
"Come to get high,
Bring your friend if you wanna."

There she went,
With her friend by her side,
Smoking a joint,
Just one hit.

She could not feel her body,
She could not even walk,
Her heart started racing,
As the clock started to tock.

At least an hour went by,
Without her knowing,
What had just went down,
In the morning she couldn't move.

Her vagina was swollen,
There was fresh blood,
There she awoke,
Not knowing how she got home.

"What just happened to me?"
Her thoughts began to race,
"Where was my friend,
Who was supposed to be there by me?"

Her friend called to say,
She passed out in her car,
As she began to cry,
And tell her friend what happened.

Three weeks later,
There is no sign,
Of a period she once hated,
Now pregnancy is the key.

In nine months she will have a baby,
Black and white and no daddy,
A bastard child just like she,
Alone and oh so cold.

This woman is me,
One who is so afraid,
Of a future so mysterious,
Of a future gone so wrong.

I have made my mistakes,
Yet did not ask for this,
No more shall I smoke,
Nor shall I trust him.

This baby will be mine,
A gift from the Lord above,
The only wish is for it to be healthy,
And know I made a sacrifice.

I did not have to keep it,
From something gone so wrong,
Yet I hear the distant sounds,
Of motherhood and responsibility.

This is just one story,
Of many women,
Not all of us are that strong,
Not all of us can make it.

I did not ask to be raped,
I did not ask to have a child,
I am but seventeen,
A mother soon to be.
