a poem to show how far my son has come since the day we learned he was autistic.
That's my boy
Feces sketched surfaces
paints our picture
little boy stands
unclad
resembling walls
process repeats
over and over
Boy sits
reclusive mute
putting patterns
on invisable paper
order
in the form
of peerless friends
figures on parade
Boy crouches
lips chewed
as fingers assemble
intricate numbers
singing songs
minus words
Boy lays
down on chess board
wakes up
eyes full of color
bulb burns
brighter
introducing strangers
delayed voice
speaks spotless truth
connecter
of mind frames
interpreter
of silence
Boy walks
The Growing Hero

This is dedicated to my son with autism. He's 4 and has been able to shatter barriers through his art. Although he is severly autistic he has exceeded every expectation, and is being utalized in school as a connection between the teachers and other children (he is currently learning sign language to help with the children who dont speak). He's my hero.
