About war and what families go through with losing family members
Dear Mother

Standing aside of the action stands the last bit of heaven.
Sitting back and enjoying the sun and the sand,
slowly but surely I watch the men taking the land.
Bodies are falling and kids are screaming.
What a sight, I wish you were here.
I am safe as far as I can tell,
and I do wish you well.
I will be coming home soon with all my comrades.
And just wait ‘till you hear my stories of the lads.
We’ll be draped in our colours from head to toe,
and we will once again enjoy our hometown glow.
Just you wait; you will be so proud.
Bring the entire family, friends and cheer real loud.
I won’t stop you, none of us can.
But I won’t stay long,
shortly after I arrive we will have to say our goodbyes.
Stand next to me and hold my hand,
kiss me on the cheek where you once had
and say farewell for the final time.
Lower me into the ground where I will lay,
side by side with my brothers,
like that same sunny day.
I told you I would make you proud.
