A dark poem dealing with themes of abuse, abandonment, and revenge.
It was on that, the darkest night, with you,
We were together then and deep in love.
And I did not know what to say. My heart
Would not let me let you go in the end.
I could not say those fateful words. I hate
The way I feel inside when I know fear.

I did not know that I would feel such fear
Just lying right here so wrapped up in you.
I will not go, to leave you I would hate.
For I want just to be here with my love.
I'll be yours until stars fall in the end.
I love you with all my soul and my heart.

I gave to you gifts. I gave you my heart.
And I some how overcame all my fear.
Never did I want to come to an end.
All that I wanted was to be with you.
You were my one and only truest love.
Yet you are also the one that I hate.

What you did to me led me to great hate.
You trampled hard up on my very heart.
You defiled the purity of my love.
You ravaged me, becoming what I fear.
Never again will I let go of you.
I will pursue you til the very end.

Never will I let this search for you end.
Desire, it mingles with my deep dark hate.
Run far away, but I will search for you.
You broke my spirit and you broke my heart.
You kept me imprisoned by my own fear.
My innocence was cast off by your "love".

Beat me, defile me in the name of "love".
Keep running, for my wrath never will end.
Run from me fast as you can go in fear.
You took my spirit and filled it with hate.
You plunged your silver knife deep in my heart.
Run though you may, I'll not give rest to you.

And through fear you inspired, you killed my love.
I will hunt you until the very end.
You who gave hate, I now will pierce your heart.

<NOTE: This poem was an experiment. The prompt came from a writing contest, but I was experimenting with a Sestina form in iambic pentameter. What a nightmare!>
