in the peace of the night my thoughts are freed.
Freed
To expand.
To run wild.
To escape.
To reproduce.
Thoughts lead to thoughts lead to thoughts.
Expanding and spiderwebbing across my mind,
And my conscious and my conscience.
An expansion as violent as a nuclear explosion,
Pushing away everything that tries to stand against.
And what am I?
I am but a miniscule highly ordered arrangement of atoms,
In the wake of this violent outrising. Powerless to stand against
And with nothing to find myself seeking protection in.
And I? I feel overwhelmed.
The poise before the tempest.
The peace before the war.
The freedom before the gulag.
I will survive, this will not kill me.
But I will rest away into oblivion.
I will find myself cavorting once more in my dreams,
Sliding among the torments and the fears that inhabit them.
Goodnight world, I will return to conscious in the morning.
When my conscience will be more at ease.
As the sun rises in the east, I will rise and stand again.
To be cut down once more? Who is to say.
I'll take my chances on another day.
