A story that must be believe to be read.
I have been far and wide. I have seen the big and the small, even microscopic. I have sampled some of the finest wines, some of the most terrible storms and even the deepest of seas. I am fortunate enough to have the power of everything, right in my body...the power to change, and the power to skip a generation of I must. I am a skaylot , or in your language, a time shifter. I wander from time period to time period in any shape I wish, gathering information and learning from the past what cannot be learned from the future. I have been to virtually every time period; the beginning, where single celled organisms ruled. The middle-beginning as I call it, littered with odd dinosaurs and other living creatures. The now, splintered by war and plagues. And the future, spread over centuries of mistakes...until one fateful day, I had always been too afraid to visit the end of time, a time marked with fear and outrage. I have always been curious to see how the world will end, but I've never been able to visit this realm, because, in reality, it does not belong to me. It belongs to those that would change the course of events naturally...and secretly, I had always been afraid that if I visited the end of the world, I would be unable to return. Now, I have not been a perfect person, with perfect thoughts or angelic dreams, but I have seen a thing or two of the future, and as I have seen it, compared to the people of the new eras to come, I am a dream come true. I have seen wars the crimes of which the world could never imagine. But the truest times I have experienced have been those when I have been in what I call a pure form, a form that is unfettered by human restrictions of the mind. I have found this form in many different animals; symbolically, the wolf and eage represent the purest of freedoms, derived from nature, all wild and feral need. But there are other forms which share this feature; the diving sperm whale, who can reach depths that would implode a normal creature. The rampaging lion, claws, teeth, and intelligence rolled into one organic package of beauty and raw instinct. The soaring vulture, a hero in it's own right, with talons and beaks of titanium, and a sense of duty that implores them keep our world clean...naturally. These three, among the millions of others, have been the most pure of experiences, when I could revert back to a nature that human beings have seldom seen since the beginning of time, before cars, buildings and politics; a form full of instinctual needs and hopes, fears and wants, love and hate. I wish that everyone could experience these forms, as they reminded me of who I am, and who we all once were. But enough philosophy...the feeling overwhelms me that the story, and not the many forms of one hypothesis, is more important at this point to teach the power of our kind and the downfall it may have triggered.
