A Samisen poem honoring the gloaming. (five forms in five weeks contest)
Prompt: A Samisen Poem -- three stanzas of 8 lines each; a 3-syllable refrain ending lines 1 and 3, and standing alone as lines 2 and 8. The meter has been variously described, but it appears to be a regular trochaic pattern ('u) with amphimacers ('u') for the refrain and for the end-rhyme in lines 5 and 7. Lines 1, 3, 4 and 6 have four feet, lines 5 and 7 have three feet, and lines 2 and 8 (the refrain) have one foot.
The only end-rhyme other than the A-Refrain occurs in lines 5 and 7, the 3-foot lines. The rhyme pattern, then, is AR, R, AR, x, b, x, b, R. That second rhyme is different for each stanza, but the refrain remains the same.

Sylvan sprites alight and cry twilight's song,
Twilight's song.
Halflings hum in half-light's haze twilight's song.
Moonbeams dream of streaming evening,
Lending glow to this farewell fling.
Silhouetted branches dance,
Brushing limbs whilst woodwinds sing
Twilight's song.

Airy voices carry on twilight's song,
Twilight's song.
Faerie folk rejoice the calm twilight's song.
Harmonizing with evening's breeze,
Beneath nightshade they hide in hoards.
Joining in the serenade
Crickets chirp in dusky chords
Twilight's song.

Tweedling trills unite to hail twilight's song,
Twilight's song.
Weary shadows sigh along twilight's song.
Constellations wink their delight,
twinkling praise across purple skies.
Evenfall's refrain now wanes,
Echoing in lullabies . . .
Twilight's song.

(I had to "google" most of the explaination as I'm simply not familiar with poetic terms. So, if you happen to catch an error in my poem regarding feet and trochees or such, please let me know. Thanks!)
