Submission for poetry league - tied my opponent but won hall of fame poem of the week.
Memories of;
Many conversations in bed,
In languages that only we understood
English slang and mispronounced French
But you still know: ‘je t’aime’
An embrace that joins two bodies,
With hands wandering all over,
Running fingers through silky hair
Stirring the sweet scent of honey
Into the air that surrounds us.
Two hands that melt into one,
A sea of tangled fingers that dance,
So swift and seductively,
In tiny circles hinting at a secret
That only we can share.
A tender kiss that moves from the lips
All over the neck, towards the ear
A body shivers and squirms,
The delight of the touch is playful
But passionate.

But these are just memories;
Since you left.
And I’m glad you can move on.
Find someone new, to hold you tight,
Keep you warm, and brush away your tears.
Find someone new to taste your sweet lips,
And feel the soft pillow-like texture
dance across his own.
Find someone to hold your hand,
And lose their fingers among your own.
But please don’t teach them the circle,
That was ours.
You can try to teach him French, but
Please remember my fumbled accent,
That wrongly pronounced “je t’aime.”
Find someone new, that will love you,
Like I do.
And remember, you were always on my mind,
Until this tumour took your place.
