Thoughts of an era a long time ago,
Of frogs after rain, where did they go?
I was a wee lad and they were so loud
When the stars went away and the sky filled with cloud.
Many years passed and there were no more frogs.
“Where have they gone?”, I pleaded the gods.
It seemed Elnino was the cause and effect,
Brought on by things we chose to neglect.
But just the other night it rained down hard,
And for many days after, it filled the whole yard.
Then came the sound I knew as I boy,
Of frogs after rain, and I felt much joy.
It rained and it rained and the frogs they did croak,
Louder and louder as if to all gloat,
‘Bout returning from absence and trying to say,
“We’ll keep you awake all night and all day”.
