Butterflies need a different name. Written for a friend in exchange for the math homework.
No name ever before dubbed
To the lonely soul of one so stubbed
With such intense inaccuracy
And matching rude audacity
Then those who fly far and nigh
The dazzling, brilliant butterfly

They pretend not to mind
Their matchless-marv’ling kind
But it’s easy to see, if you’re alert
Underneath, they are quite hurt

These insects are insects
Not churned milk effects,
They won’t go to your thighs
These things called butterflies!

Would YOU like to be a spread?
Something suited best for bread?
Or is it a trait that you would dread?
So how about a different name instead?

Something with a bit more ZING
To explain their quick, dancing wings
Something that expresses GRACE
Wouldn’t that be better in place?

Of course, butterflies’ never had it well
Even when young, they had to pay hell
They are not feline, or columns of any type
So what’s with this ‘caterpillar’ tripe?

Such naming demolition
Is a horrid premonition
Of what they might be
Instead of flying free
They could turn salty
Or of awkward consistency
Never again could we see
Like a washing sea
pretty sky-filled filigree
We would only find bees
Coloured bichromaticaly

So please, let’s change
A name so deranged
For a pretty creature
Deserving of a better feature

These motley things that rules the skies
The amazing, beautiful butterflies
