dedicated to all insomniacs
There are times when sleep doesn’t come to your eyes.
You lie awake in your bed, surrounded by darkness, trying to cheat yourself to sleep.
But your mind is wide awake.
So many things you want to do
so many things waiting to be discovered
so many feelings to be felt...
if only tomorrow was now!
You open your eyes, only to be greeted by black silence.
Then you hear distant noise, like radio turned down low. It’s a train disturbing night peace.
You imagine passengers in their seats, slumbering through the night,
until they reach their final destination.
The bells on church ring twelve times. Midnight. Single ray of light peeps through the window
casting shadows all around you. The Moon is full.
The shapes you see look unreal, lit in cold silver.
Suddenly, you hear a wolf, howling in the wild, smelling the coming of winter.
But there are no wolves in cities. It’s only your heart, beating helplessly.
