You Are Always on my Mind

You are always on my mind,
and until just now I hadn’t made a date
to say goodbye,
but knowing that you’re really gone,
I can often see your spirit moving freely
through the deepest canyons of my soul,
it calls for me to follow you beyond the veil,
and deep beneath the waterfall to paradise,
the shortened path to destiny.

You are always on my mind,
but for now the only thing that I can see
is just a fleeting image showing me another way,
a different place, and somehow all at once I know,
that only I can see your face,
and as the snapshot fades away,
I’m left with just the briefest whiff of perfume in the air,
that familiar fragrance of your hair,
it surely softens all the fear.

You are always on my mind,
I see you beckoning for me once more,
that single momentary glimpse through time,
like a moving picture show,
and I can truly see your flowing gown,
it softly flutters in the breeze,
a satin pink that’s just the color of a Springtime rose,
the bluest eyes that long to be with only me,
a gentle nudge, so I can finally wake up from this living dream.

You are always on my mind,
and as the single shot rings out,
the final journey has begun, the choice is mine,
and soon I find, that only I can choose to walk out of the dark,
to see the truth, to move ahead and dance the dance,
to see what was right and what was wrong,
and chose which path we’ll take if we decide to go round again,
we embrace, there is no end,
we choose to stroll together, slowly back into the light
