In the Distance

I can see it in the distance
I can almost see it there
I can hear the wind a' blowing
I can breathe the ocean air

How free would love have set us?
How long would it have stayed?
If time were set against us
And God Himself had strayed?

Are there answers to the riddles
that plague my simple mind?
Or am I treading circles
As reality passes by?

I feel we are so close now
Please, do not give in
For surely we'll prevail
For vict'ry we are destined

We did not fight the good fight
To wave a small white flag
Cannot you see the victory?
And that we should be glad?
