[Introduction]
In the age of the before the Meji restoration. The turbulant Bakumastsu eara. There lived Assassins...Many of which were legendary in their skill. These were known as Hitokiri...striking from shadows rarly seen. Some Of these Hitokiri came out into the open and helped their comrads in the cause.

Others stayed in darkness and some were ended in darkness.

These are the tales of some of those Hitokiri and how they came to be Hitokiri. Some for nobal reasons...other simply enjoyed the kill. for a select few it was revenge....but for some it was to try to put an end to their lives.

His other self is more dangerous as his power is released to an almost supernatural level.

Apearance: Imaculatly well groomed black braided hair that reaches his ankles. Light blue eyes. has a sense of innocence about him. Wears black wrist guards and shin guards. Slim. 5'9. one of his sword is virtical on his back lined up with his shoulder. One at his waist and the Single sheath Kodachi is held freely in his left hand.

History: Amoung Hitokiri he is widly known for his speed and power. His ability to cut down men in a single strike is also known. The New rifles bruaght in won't even slow him as he can track the path of the bullets as the leave the riffle and are easily doged. It would appear that he has a split personality from the difference in his natures. It has been a long running myth about him speaking his true name into the ears of his victims so that they knon who sent them to hell. He is quite possibly the most terrifieing man in the world with how quickly he can change from a gental man to a demon in a mans body

To change the hands of fate these men and women are our tools to bring about peace...
Pouring rain swatting at the flimsy shelter provided by a old tree. A man with long black hair leant up against the tree a sheathed longsword clenched in his left hand while his right arm was covering a wound in his side. Blood flowing into the small treams of water flowing around the figure lean't up against it.

"Is this all you have to offer me? "asked a male voice scorn-fully?

"As a child I was full of fear...I never once closed my eyes now matter how affraid I was...even now as I face death. I will find solace in this death...But first you and I have some unfinished buisness "smirked the man up against the tree and he stood up.

"...I thaught You were close to death? Did you not sustain those injuries from fighting the Oni? "asked the Man robed in black.

"You saw what you wanted to see...and your arrogance will cost you your life "sighed the injured man pulling out a animal heart from inside his robe.

13 months earlier.

A man walking casualy down the road too Tokyo. Stops briefly in a tea shop for a drink and takes his seat outside in the sun. His longsword and Katana atracting only the slightest glance.

"Lu-sin-ur...I didn't think you'd be coming by this way for a few weeks "spoke a man dressed in grey cloathing sitting down next to him.

the faint smell of lavender oil catching his nose.

"Buisness has been slow...I took care of the job in kyoto a couple days ago...Camui hows your wife and son? "asked Lu-sin-ur?

"Fine...Shishio has been driving Taka wild...but we didn't meet to talk about my problems "answered Camui.

"I've been ordered to kill another Hitokiri, One ours...He's been conspiring with the enemey "sighed Lu-sin ur dropping his hand to his side.

"Who? "asked Camui?

"You...I'm sorry it had to happen this way "was all Lu-sin-ur answered stabbing a small blade up into his old friends heart.

The blade wass out of sight and he was walking away long before anybody would notice his old friend.

"Onto Tokyo... "sighed Lu-sin-ur as he stepped of the road and took his own path.

"There was once a man who slayed men like an ogre...A Hitokiri called Angeless...A man who's heart had been frozen by his lost life "
Name: Kasami Tsukino
Age: 21
Affiliation: imperials

Personality: Very fiery and passionate. Clever, but can seem rather ditzy. She is very loyal. She has a very misterious air. Everyone simply calls her Kasumi, because she dissapears with the sun.

Appearance: Straight silky black hair down to the small of her back. Very unusual blue-purple eyes. 4'1". She's a beautiful woman. When fighting she wears a short sleeveless kimono-style dress over tight black tights that go to her knees. Flexible, flat black shoes. Net like gaurds go up to her thighs on her legs and above her elbows on her arms. Black gauntlets on her wrists. A face mask draped loosely over her face. Normally, she can be seen wearing a relatively elegant kimono and hairstyle. She looks quite ordinary during the day.

Choice of weapon: Two folding fans, throwing stars, or a katana.

Style: Tessenjutsu *a stlye using a folding fan. Used mainly to parry blows, but it can be used as a short sword or a throwing weapon*

History: Kasumi was raised and trained to be a geisha. She spent her younger years up until she was 19 as a geisha before she left and became an assasin. She was born to one of the most prominent geisha in the Gion district of kyoto towards the end of her career. She doesn't know it, but she is the daughter of a very prominent man. She never knew her father. Her training as a geisha gives her quite a way with other people. Her relatively sheltered life has given her a sort of innocence, despite the fact she is a traine dkiller.

Reason for fighting: A band of warlords tore through her home one night, burning it and raping most of the women. She managed to escape, but her entire "family" was killed. She swore to get revenge on the men who did it. Her eyes are very recognizable, so she only looks into the eyes of those she kills.

________________

Kasumi walked along the road, keeping her hat pulled low over her eyes so she could ignore all the stares she was getting for being an unsescorted woman. A dog tagged along at her side, snarling at the passerby who came too close.

She heard the occasional joke about a dog being a poor excuse for a male escort, but she didn't really care. No one had a clue who she really was.

She continued on down the road until coming to somewhere it looked like she could rest.

Name: Otonashi Tsubasa

Age: 24

Afilliation: Shogunate

Personality: Tends to keep silent on most occasions, leading people to beleive that he does not speak at all. Holds no loyalties except for those most likely to lead to death.

Apearance: His black shoulder length hair falls around his face which is usually emotionless. People describe his eyes as empty and some children tell stories that this is because his soul was stolen by a witch.

choice of weapon(s): Naginata

Style: Naginata Jutsu

Reasons for fighting: He wants eihter to defeat or be defeated. Nothing more. Nothing less.

History: Rarely fought until in his teenage years, when a group of marauders raided the small farming community he had grown up in, killing most of his family and loved ones. Among these, Umeko. From that day forward he fought hoping one day to kill those who killed those he loved, or to be killed along the way.

-----------------------------------

"Sir..." A man in a dirty apron set down a tray on his table and began to pour out steaming black tea. "Sir?" he repeated, expecting some sort of acknowledgement if not a thankyou from the strange man.

Otonashi said nothing, but took the small cup of tea while still staring fixedly ahead, seemingly at nothing. The server walked on to another customer, slightly annoyed but unperturbed.

But Otonashi WASN'T staring at nothing by any means. His eyes were fixed upon a man at a building across the dusty road from him. He recognized this man, though the he took no notice of him.

He set down his tea so lightly that a nearby fly did not even notice, and crossed the street, still not taking his eyes off of his target.

Otonashi stood before him, his face devoid of all emotion. No anger, no friendliness. The other man looked up into his eyes with a scowl.

"What do you want?" he asked roughly.

Otonashi still remained silent as she turned and resumed his seat, leaving a dagger behind in the man's chest.

He noticed that his tea had cooled off, if only slightly. He could not stand tea that was not fresh hot.
Angeless was more carefull of his travels nowerdays. More and more Hitokiri were on the board now. in the world of swordsmen it was rare to face the same opponent more than once. Nightfall had caught him on the road and rather than travel at night he decided to rest where he was. Gathering some firewood together he pulled to flint rods out of his tunic.

"Its been a while sinse I've had to do this...I should have stayed at that inn I passed this morning "he sighed striking the flints together to light his little fire.

He had never been that good at guessing his travel times. The average person could walk from kyoto to tokyo in just about 10 days. Most Hitokiri could do it in 3 if they pushed themselves. He'd done it in 2 himself although that was with the aid of horses aswell. The people still traveling walked futher away from him as they came close seeing the swords.

"People avoid ones seen wearing swords out of fear and habbit...Just they way I like it no chance of innocents getting caught "he thaught.

He smirked slightly. He knew for a fact that if he felt like walking right now he would probably make Tokyo by sunset the next day.

"...Wish I'd picked up some dumplings...what I wouldn't give for a bottle of saki "he sighed as his stomach rumbled.
Kasumi continued down the road, still looking for a place to sleep. She saw a flicker of light off to the side and went towards it cautiously.

She was expecting to see a town gate but instead she saw a rather gentle looking man camped out by the side of the road. He looked up and saw her, getting up quickly.

"Oh..I'm sorry. I thought the light was from the torches at the gate of the next town. Pardon me.." She said, bowing and moving to go on her own way.
"Please...I would be honored to have your company...besides its not entirly safe on these roads...It would do my heart no good to find you in unfavorable conditions futher along the road "he sighed blushing slightly.

"I Don't want to impose "sighed the girl politly.

He had forgotten he blushed whenever girls came near him. Such a timid shell that hid the fierce agression underneath.
Kasumi smiled at the mans blush. It was quite cute, in a way she wasn't used to. It was an honest and sincere blush, not brought on by too much sake.

She bowed politely to accept his inviation, greatful for his kindness. She notced the swords on his back and became more aware of the fans and swords she had concealed beneath the folds of her kimono.

"So tell me," he started, "what's a geisha doing wandering the roads by herself?"

"Ex geisha. Extenuating circumstances.. I left with everything I could salvage..which wasn't much.. a few kimono and things.. I'm a bit too old for the white makeup.." She said, looking pointedly at the ground.

She realized her rudeness as she heard his stomach growl.

"How rude of me.. I should offer you something.." She said, digging through her bag and finding a bottle of sake.

"This is some of the best sake I've ever had.. my thanks." She said, bowing gracefully and handing him the bottle.
"I left Tokyo a few days ago after concluding some buisness and didn't think about getting food. I usualy just stop when I feel the urge "sighed Angeless blushing again.

He wished he could control it but his gentel side was much more sensitive. He had been confused for a girl more than once. It didn't help that he blushed so much around women.

"What line of Buisness are you in "asked the girl?

"I'm a Hitokiri "he smiled quietly.

The girl stiffled a small laugh which just make him blush even more.

"I'm sorry that was impolite of me. Its just you don't seem capable of doing the things they do...A man was killed in broard daylight earlier today and nobody saw a thing "answered the girl.

"I get that alot...I know enough to cope "he sighed.

enough to cope was an understatment he'd only come across a handfull of swordsman that had lasted longer than five minutes.

"My name is Kasumi in case you were wondering "answered the girl with he put a few more sticks onto the fire.

"Lu-sin-ur...Angeless Lu-sin-ur "answered Angeless as the dancing fire was reflected in his eyes.

She looked at him for a moment and clearly had a question in her eyes.

"I know...its an unusual name isn't it "answered Angeless.
"A bit.." Kasumi said, covering a yawn with the sleeve of her kimono.

He simply smiled and blushed a little more. She giggled quietly to herself and gazed up at the stars for a moment.

She would have to be on her way in the morning. She was still looking for the man who had given the order to kill her family. She had no reason why he had... but she would find out and she would get her revenge.

She was getting a bit drowsy and was beginning to nod off every couple of seconds.
Otonashi was once more on the road... though not literally. He kept far enough from roads to not be seen while keeping close enough to see who else was travelling.

The imperials who had destroyed his villiage had all felt his vengeance... all save one. He didn't no the man's name, and it seemed no one else did either, but he moved with purpose toward his goal. The man with no name had left on the very road he now followed only a day previously. He moved on at a grueling pace, sure he could catch up by nightfall.

He saw in the distance, two people by a fire, seeming to be nodding off. There was the man whom he had spent so many years searching for. Whether this was the man with no name that he had heard of or not, he was unsure... but this was the last of the men he would have to kill before he could allow himself peace. How convenient, that his lord also wanted him dead...

There was also a woman there whose beauty might have captivated him were he a normal man not rent asunder by vengeful anger, but to his mind all he could think was what problems she might pose. First glance told him she was nothing more than a pretty face and a kimono... but a second glance revealed that she might prove to be as feirsome an opponent as the man without a name.
Angeless had his eyes closed but he was listening out for sounds that were different to those of the ocassional passer by. Foot steps deliberatly being concealed. The faint sounds came from towards his left.

"It seems he's finaly caught up with me...maybe this boy does have some talent "he thaught rising slowly.

He made a deliberate motion to head off towardsa the noises making like he was intending to go to the bathroom. He held his longsword loosly in preparation. This man was brave...unusualy so for somebody so who appeared so young. He came out from the shadows bearing a Naginta. He made a smooth motion and let his longsword slid almost completly out of his grip.

"Forgive me you startled me... "sighed Angeless blushing deeply as he bowed.

The mans puzzeled expression was what he wanted. He knew his next reaction from a lifetime of experiance. He fumbled with getting the longword back into posistion

"He's blushing like a little girl? Is this really him? He can barly even hold his sword...if this is an act its a good one "thaught the man.

"...Many pardons sir...I only carry these when I travel. "answered Angeless bowing once more.

"...I was the one who startled you...I should be the one apoligising "answered the man.

"Please I have a fire this way and company that you could share "he sighed as he began to lead the way.

He was thanking himself once again for being so feminane. Even if he was half tempted to see if the man was any good.

"Best not...He might have a promising future "he thaught to himself.

He heard the hiss as the Naginta swung through the air. Before he could stop himself he felt his hand on his Kodachi and was drawing them to block the strike. The familier shiver ran up his back and ruffled his hair. His Hitokiri side had surfaced. The tip of the Kodachi was holding the Naginta still.

"You moved so slow I could have taken a nap
"he sighed flicking a few strands of hair out of his face.

"You've shown me your true speed now witness mine "sighed the man striking again the Naginta seemed to go right through him before he faded.

The man paused only for a moment before he felt the blade resting against his neck. It had been just an after image.

"When I make a move...you'll know about it...Be glad I don't feel like killing you "sighed Angeless in a almost bloodthirsty tone.

"Who the hell are you? "asked the man feeling a small trickle of blood run down his neck?

"I've been a Hitokiri since I was 6 years old. Angeless might be forgiving but don't think that means I am... "sighed Angeless into the mans ear.

Sheathing his Kodachi he walked past the man back towards the fire and a waiting Kasumi.

"The next time you take a swing at me...I'll show you the true hell born of a asassin's sword "sighed Angeless glareing at The man with blood red eyes.

As he came into the light of the fire he smiled as he saw Kasumi sitting up waiting for him.

"Ah it seems our little display has woken you up?...Forgive me "he blushed as he bowed once.
Otonashi also bowed to the woman, though rather stiffly. She had shown no sign of agression as of yet, and therefore must still be regarded as nothing more than a woman.

"Pardon my rudeness." he said, not meaning it at all, and staring at her intently. She was wearing a fine kimono and had the presence of a geisha, but the fan she carried was not of bamboo and silk.

Otonashi had never failed to kill a target before, so he felt extremely akward and unsure of how to proceed. To retreat into the darkness would be to admit defeat...

"It would seem that we all share one thing in common - We are all weary travellers." He bowed and sat down near the pair's campfire. If he waited it out, perhaps one of them might let down their guard. He only needed a second. "Dumplings?" He pulled a small sack of food and offered it to his "companions".
"Don't mind if I do "smiled Angeless putting on an air of happiness that was all too convincing.

Angeless sat there eating one of the dumplings still regarding the man.

"I have heard stories of a almost legendary Hitokiri that has been around now for a little over 19 years. It is said he killed an extrodinary number of people just to get to his targets "sighed the newcomer.

Angeless stopped eating for a moment.

"Pray tell...what stories are these? "asked Angeless curious about what was known of himself?

"That he killed an entire battalion of elite Jonin class shinobi...by himself while he was still a child...with little more than a Kunai "sighed The newcomer.

"Ah...The fabled Demon Child. Do you believe the stories? "smirked Angeless fixing him with a stare.

"My father said that a boy was found wandering in the wilds. He believed the boy came from a neiboring village that had been burnt to the ground. "the newcomer paused.

"What happend then? "smirked Angeless.

"Before my fathers men could question the boy The Jonins came. They made a move to surround the boy and protect him...But the boy just walked towards the Jonins taking A kunai from one of his mens hands "sighed the newcomer quietly.

"My father said he'd never seen anything like it. A child no older than 6...and in that moment my father saw the birth of the Demon Hitokiri. That child slayed each and every one of those Jonin like they were nothing "sighed the newcomer thill holding his stare with Angeless.

"So what happened to the child? "asked Kasumi?

"My father said after the boy killed them. He picked up a longsword from one of the fallen Jonin...and laughed as he disapeared "the newcomer glanced at Kasumi.

"Could somebody like that exist? "asked Kasumi?

"Yes "answered Both Angeless and the newcomer at the same time.

"But enough talk it is late and I'm sure we are all tired "smiled Angeless as he layed down with his back towards them.

"He's taunting me! Daring me to strike him "thaughed Otonashi.
Kasumi regarded the pair of men carefully and flipped her fan open, hiding most of her face behind it. She was getting a bit annoyed with her helpless female act, but if she broke her cover who knew what would happen.

The man that had been giving her a bad feeling spoke up in a moment. "Pardon me, but it seems unusual for a woman to be carrying such a weapon..." He said, staring pointedly at the fan in her hand.

She blinked a few times and flicked it shut, not flinching at the slight scrape of metal against metal. "One never knows what may be lurking in the next alley...surely one mustn't begrudge a frail woman such as myself a bit of protection..." Kasumi said, lowering her eyes and smiling. "Now, if you'll excuse me..." She said, getting up with the pretense to find somewhere to go to the bathroom. In reality, she was going to go sneak about and see what that man was up to.
