Biblicial teachings from the book of Deuteronomy concerning evil.
Vs.9 When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
God did not for some reason, tell the Israelites about the evils they would face in the new land. He supported them. He did not want the vile enemies to win favor with the Israelites. He warned the children of Israel not to fall into the net of abominations that the nations were practicing.

Vs.10 There shall not be found among you anyone that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

Harming a child to be used for sacrifice, and the occult, were strictly forbidden by God. Practices such as these were common among the heathern religions. They sacrificed their children to their god Molech. They used super natural experiments, contacting the spirit world to find out what future lay ahead for them. Because of the wickedness, God drove the evil doers away from their nation, replacing them with the Children of Isreal who worshipped only one God. That being the true God.

Vs. 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

Satan is behind the Occult today, the same as he was back then. God did not in any way approve the Israilites keeping company with the Canaanite religions. The Israilites of course were curious, just like the people of today. There are many who practice, calling up the dead, fortune telling, tarot cards, witchcraft, to name a few . Somehow the people interested in those things, have seemed to forgotten the true God Almighty. We don't need horoscopes, and fortune tellers. If we trust and believe that God is God, we need no more. There is no one that can tell our future. My Bible teaches me that, "No one knows the mind of God." I believe that God is the only one that can predict my future, providing my past has been corrected and I have been forgiven thru the blood of Jesus, and God's mercy. We do not need the occult to give us faulty information. We have God. He is all I need to direct my foot steps.

Vs. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord; and because of these abominations, the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

God is a jealous God. He wants us to devote our love and attention toward Him. He does not appreciate us putting another God before Him. He is God, the creator, God the forgiver, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is an awesome God. Why do we insist on putting other god's before Him? Is it fear? Or is it simply an act that lingered on far after the Canaanite's were driven from their nation? Driven out by the powerful hand of God Almighty. For those who practice, witch craft, astromony, playing with tarot cards, trying to tell fortunes, and worshiping their false gods, such as the "Mother Earth" to name one, it is an act of Satan to deceive you. Satan may be strong in the world, as he was then, but God wrote in His word, what He wanted us to know and understand. Satan cannot change the writings in the Holy Bible. Satan is still the lier today, that he was back then. Actually the only powers he has, is the ones we choose to give him. He has no strength, until we allow it. God is all power, and satan knows that. Satan being the head of the Occult, and being the author of lies, his only giving out faulty information.

Vs. `13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.

We know that true perfection came to earth in the form of man, and died on a cross so that all may be saved. We can never be perfect as long as we remain in this carnal body of clay. However, we can strive for that perfection, walking as close to Jesus as possible. And then one day, we will attain the perfection we seek when we follow Him, and finally enter into the portals of Heaven. We will be made perfect, just like our Savior.

Vs. 14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners, but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.

God loved the Israelites. He forbade them to have any part of the Occult practices. Because they followed Gods desires, they took possession of the land once occupied by the evil ones.

My final thought: Today there are many who practice some form or other of the Occult. And we have those who are trying to have God's name taken off our money. Also, we have the groups that insist we not use God's name in our Pledge to our Country. Of course there are other groups, or individuals who don't want to listen to the Christians proclaim Christ. We tend to allow the very people, who are daily fighting against the Power, we as Christians hold dear to our hearts, to direct us in our speech and actions. I refuse to accept the ways of those who would deny my Christ. I refuse to bow to their beliefs. I will speak of My Savior, and tell what He has done for me. If I offend someone just because I want to serve God, so be it. Do they not take into consideration that I am offended when they are denying Him? It seems it has become a challenge. Remember Christians, "where two or more are gathered together in His name, He will be there also." We need to be on our knees, joining together in prayer. Prayer is the only weapon we have to use against the evil wiles of satan.
