Lamb

LAMB

Out beyond that long dark wall,
the horizon does not touch.
The sun finds its salvation
in daybreak's first bright rush.

Would that I were like the sun;
always born again,
with yesterday behind me
and tomorrow on the wind!

But darkness marks my boundaries,
I succeed and yet am damned
to live in lightless memory;
love's sacrificial lamb.
