A poem written at a turning point in life: When I moved from Louisiana to Illinois.
The lights of July
hang in the mist
on the horizon
of my world

Soon their brightness
will overtake me
and I'll be blinded
lost
in their endless glow

I cannot see beyond them
through them
around them
I can only guess
what pyrite roads
they light
