Evening Walk

For the first time
In a long time
--We had
--Our time
--Our evening walk.
After running
Down the drive
Kicking rocks. In the middle of the road...
Walking-stop to look at the creek
Talking-You play, going to throw me in the water
Laughing-smiling at eachother.
Up the long hill-panting
--It's 80 degrees. Pollen in our lungs
To my house to take a break.
Back down the hill.
It's getting cool now
Around the bend.
I think about
and laugh about
Just a few moments ago
When you looked at me
strangely
As I bent down to rub
the soft back of a caterpillar.
--You ask me what I'm doing
I tell you.
Laughing--about the past.
Talking--About the Future
Walking-like we used too
--Our Evening Walk.
