Unusual blind date |
Mark was my first blind date. I was excited, but nervous wondering what kind of guy I had been set up with. Let me tell you, he definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. He was a circus sideshow act. Literally. Mark was the world’s tallest man. I decided not to let it bother me and to try to enjoy our first date. First off was a trip through the zoo. People snickered and compared my date to a giraffe. I was oblivious to the stares and rude comments as Mark told me little known facts about the elephants. We went to dinner at a small French place. Mark towered over the rest of the patrons and the waiter gave us some strange looks, but we ignored them. Looking at him while we were talking gave me a sore neck, but it turned out to be the most interesting conversation I’d had in a while. Dancing after dinner was an experience. My head rested on this stomach instead of his chest, but it was the most romantic dance ever. My feet felt like they never touched the floor. During the walk home, my arm became sore from reaching up to hold Mark’s hand. It was a far reach. I practically had to run to keep up with his long strides. I didn’t care though. This was turning out to be the best date I’d ever had. At my front door, we stopped to say goodnight. Even on my tiptoes, I couldn’t reach him for a goodnight kiss, so Mark leaned over the rest of the way. It was awkward, but so sweet. One date with the world’s tallest man and I was in love. Now we’re married, and I still love my little sideshow man. 294 words |
