U.S. SOLDIER IN IRAQ, RECENT VICTIM OF ATTACK.. ANY THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS?
TRY AND TELL ME
YOU CAN TRY TO SAY IT, ALL YOU WANT.
I WILL NOT BELIEVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT.
TRY AND TELL ME THERE IS NO WAR.
TRY AND SAY TROOPS DIE NO MORE.
ALL YOUR PICKET SIGNS SAY BRING US HOME.
WHILE MOTHER STILL CRYS, NEXT TO THE PHONE.
ALOT OF MY FRIENDS WERE HERE IN '03
THIS IS THE FIRST EXPERIENCE FOR ME
THE TRIALS ARE DIFFERENT, AND SOFTER WE LIVE
DOES THAT CHANGE THE SACRIFICE EACH OF US GIVE?
BECAUSE EACH DAY IS NOT A DOG-FIGHT
DOES IT CHANGE THE WORTH OF A SOLDIERS LIFE?
THE FEAR OF THE ROAD IS IN MY MIND.
I WILL FIND A WAY TO LEAVE THAT BEHIND
BUT WHEN YOU TRY TO TELL ME I DO NOT BELONG HERE
YET THE INOCENT CHILDREN'S EYES STILL RADIATE FEAR
HOW CAN WE LEAVE THEM WITH NO SAFE-GUARD
NO GOVERNMENT, LAW, AND BLOWN UP BAZAAR
YOU TELL US TO LEAVE, ITS NOT EVEN A WAR
THEN YOU COME HERE AND TRY DRIVING A CAR
DRIVING TO WORK IN FEAR OF A BOMB
DID YOU SAY YOUR LAST GOODBYE TO YOUR MOM
DONT TRY AND TELL ME THIS PLACE IS OK.
ITS NOT, I KNOW. IM HERE AND ILL STAY.
SO QUIET YOUR MOUTH, UNTIL YOU'VE BEEN HERE
BEEN ON THE ROADS, BLOWN UP, AND SHED TEARS
FOR MY LIFE I AM GRATEFUL AND MY DRIVERS AS WELL
BUT FOR BROTHERS IN ARMS, WE'VE SAID FAREWELL
DAMAGED MINDS AND HEARTS WILL NEVER MEND
FOR BODY'S AND GUNS THE ARMY WILL SPEND
SO TELL ME NOW,THAT I FIGHT IN NO WAR
TELL ME PEACEKEEPING IS WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR
THOUGH THE ENEMY SHOW NOT HIS FACE
COMBAT AND DEATH ARE STILL IN THIS PLACE
SO IF IT ON YOUR MIND TO SAY.
IRAQ NOW IS NOTHING JUST ANOTHER MISTAKE
IF YOU WANT TO TELL ME YOUR LIES
YOUR FALSEHOODS, AND THE NEWS MEDIAS SIDE
I TELL YOU NOW JUST TURN AND WALK AWAY
BECAUSE THE TIME FOR YOU I WILL NOT WASTE
YOU CAN TRY TO SAY IT, ALL YOU WANT.
I WILL NOT BELIEVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT.
TRY AND TELL ME THERE IS NO WAR.
TRY AND SAY TROOPS DIE NO MORE.
ALL YOUR PICKET SIGNS SAY BRING US HOME.
WHILE MOTHER STILL CRYS, NEXT TO THE PHONE.
