Love certainly inspires poetry. This is the first of several poems I wrote about my love.
When in the morning the sun rises and turns the sky soft blue,
I open my eyes and lose my breath just by getting a glimpse of you.
And when I walk through grass and field or under leaf and bough,
I think of your smile, your laugh, your grin, your dimples and your brow.

Throughout the day as the sun turns west and decends towards the sea,
I thank my lucky star that even for a moment you should be.
For what the twilight might have brought me in years by now long past
Could not compare, I’m sure of this, with the freedom, found at last.

At dusk my heart skips a beat as my footsteps take me nearer
The stars above wheel slowly about; they shine and twinkle closer.
And when those lights of silver hues sparkle through on summer night,
I lift my chin and sing a song about my love, your soul, our plight.

But when the moon finds familiar paths and drifts into the heavens,
I turn in bed and hug my dear, not once, not thrice but seven.
And though I know that in due season I must leave my priceless trophy,
I close my eyes and breath in deep delighted to be with Sophie.
