Some things just get to you, like sand in your sheets.
It's an itching inside,
It's worse than fleas,
It's a constant pain,
It's sand in the sheets.

Problems they catch you,
Then -- hey -- they drop you.
Fairness doesn't come into this,
Life isn't constant bliss.

Work keeps nagging at me,
And my children are screaming.
The itching gets worse,
It doesn't want to stop.

It's like an itch in the mouth,
It's like a problem unsolved.
It's like a crush you hate,
It's sand in the sheets.

Impossible reasoning gets you annoyed,
Stubborn people just won't step down.
I have something that needs to be done,
But I never...
Never?
What a word is that?
No.

I won't get this done if I keep fooling around.
An itch needs to be scratched,
Like the cat needs to be fed,
And my problem needs to be solved.

It's a problem like dying,
It's a problem like hate,
It's a problem like crying,
It's like sand in the sheets.

I can't get rid of it,
And it won't go away.
The worst of it is --
I don't know what it is.

Is it a problem with love?
Do I hate my job?
Are my kids driving me crazy?
Am I working too hard?
Does my car give off fumes?
Does my cat hate me?
Are the lights too dim?
Or is there sand in my sheets?

I don't really care.
I don't really know.
I'll just have to live with it,
Like sand in the sheets.

Or perhaps I'll get new sheets.
