Coffee poetry |
Had a bet with my boss, must win To lose 10 lbs , the first will grin Nothing to drink but water for me Giving up my, beloved coffee It had been two weeks of struggle, you know Stuck the last week with 2 1/2 lbs to go Getting desperate for my desired drink Had to call a friend to keep me from the brink On the treadmill I jumped with determination While my friend listened with exasperation I was breathing heavily into her ear Yet she encouraged me on with gusto and cheer We spent two hours on the phone and treadmill Oh what a battle, it seemed all uphill Then the moment of truth when I jumped on the scale This could not be, no way, what the hell I had lost only 1 lb in all of that time After 2 hours on the treadmill, I had paid for my crime Results should read 2 1/2 lbs left Instead I stand here crying of this theft But I had more time to complete the task Just wanted my coffee and in the glory to bask The arrogant boss has been ruthless and cruel In this challenge he issued I haven't broken a rule So the next morning first thing I jumped on the scale Yippee, Hurray, I now have a story to tell Coffee, here I come, as soon as I finish this poem Make it a white chocolate latte, with cream and foam |
