Godrey the Goblin finds glory in the most unlikely place
Godfrey the Goblin stepped away from his mound of mud he called home,
Crept down to the water's edge to get a tasty fish in the frothy foam,
A little girl's voice caught him in the middle of a valiant catch,
Mary Lou, the girl on the Bayou, happened to by wandering by the wretch.

Godfrey hid in the bushes to stay away from this girl's sight,
So hideous and monstrous this beast looked in the mirror's light,
Mary Lou saw the plant's move and called for the creature to come clean,
"Who are you and what do you want from me?" the child answered mean.

All big and boastful, Godfrey emerged from the shadows to scare her good,
"I am Godfrey the Goblin, the Great, Master of this fanciful wood!"
Mary Lou laughed at the silly dolt who pranced around by the water,
"You are nothing but an illusion of power, fantasy for Daddy's fodder!"

"How dare you mock my chilling refrain!" cried Godfrey at full steam,
"You don't know whom you're dealing with, now I make you scream!"
Just then two ghastly ghouls appeared from somewhere dark and deep,
"Leave the human to us," hissed one, "A tasty morsel for our keep!"

Feeling brave and fearsome, Godfrey protected the young babe of the day,
"Be gone, demonic bullies, run from all my might or you'll pay!"
The ghouls howled with laughter and picked a place to attack,
"Give up the girl now Duke of Destruction for it is real battle you lack!"

With that Godfrey grabbed the surprised ghouls each by the craw,
Lifted them high above his head and broke their spirits raw,
Threw them in the rolling rapids to their watery graves on sight,
Groans of horrors and frightened screams brought Godfrey much delight.

Mary Lou clapped and gave Godfrey a really big kiss on the cheek,
"Today we celebrate Godfrey's Glory--you no longer are Mr. Meek!"
