Moving on.
Picture me.

I hold out my hand to you
Glance away –
“Take my hand,
And dance with me,
One last dance.
You’ve come to my door
Asking for this
One last dance…
So dance with me.”

And as we begin to dance
Tears fall freely –
I’m before you, weeping
And you’re blind to it.

My hand falls away –
-I kiss your cheek-
“There’s your last dance.”
And I slip away.

Leaving in your hand
A single ring – blood red gem.
I’ve stolen back my heart – my love
And this is all that’s left for you.

Now, all that you will have left of me,
Is a memory of my small hand in yours
Leaving a thorn in your palm –
A haunting for the mind.

And every night from now til the day you die,
My empty eyes will haunt your dreams.
Whenever you see a thorn you will think of me.
Whenever you see blood, you’ll know I’ve been around.

Today, I lock it all away –
Tomorrow, no memory will be left.
Each time I see you – instead of
A knife through my heart
I will feel a peace – and reassurance –
Because I’m leaving you behind.

Remember this last dance.
