Make God Smile

There was a day when
Things weren't quite right;
I'd not slept a wink
All of that night,

The dog was barking
At something outside,
My spouse called me plump,
And that hurt my pride.

Outside raining,
Daughter complaining,
Baby was crying,
Clothes were not drying.

'Midst all the things
I was trying to do
My little girl said,
"Mommy, I love you."

That's when I knew
It all was worthwhile.
Peace came to my heart,
And love made me smile.

If there is such chaos
In my humble place,
Imagine the mess
God has to face;

People aren't truthful,
They tell lies instead.
Someone is saying
Maybe God's dead.

Hating and cheating,
Thieves breaking in.
Murder and greed,
And all kinds of sin.

'Midst all the things
He's trying to do
Maybe God needs to hear,
"Daddy, I love you."

That way He'll know that
It's all been worthwhile.
I'll be the child
To make God smile.
