A bit I wrote long ago,

"Today" - February 19, 1995

Today,

I saw a finger thrust into the air
To direct the attention of someone, to something

The finger was not thrust in statement of ownership
But someday it could be

The point of the hand was not accusing someone of something
But someday it might be.

The finger was the Beginning of a lifetime of focused attention
The fresh start of a new being into our society

The finger was pointed in conscious thought
And had a purpose behind it

The finger pointed, was the first attempt
To communicate a will

The finger was pointed outside themselves
The attention was directed

A heartbeat, my own was heard today
My daughter pointed her finger at me

And Said “Da!!”
