A room full of conversation Begins to spin a bit more As every sip tastes more like water
Green burns orange,
A fiery glow in the twisted glass tube.
The taste, the smell, the familiarity,
As smoke fills the lungs
And drifts out slowly in swirling patterns.
Watch as it disappears above the brim of my hat.
Slow burning, cherrying,
A hit, a pass,
A cough and laughter, so much laughter;
We’re all smiles tonight.
Cold over ice,
Straight, at this point,
The room starts to tilt,
And it’s good.
Reckless spontaneity and abandon
Discard all the excess and dive in
So cool, so fresh;
We kick our legs and whisper.
Don’t let them hear; we can’t get caught.
Fantastic rush as we smoke our cigarettes down to the ends.
Running through fields,
Spinning, and feeling the hot night air,
We laugh at how the world would view this.
We laugh at our secret adventure
As we run through the woods
Smoke seeping out our mouths.
We indulge in pure, distilled freedom.
Two women bonded by friendship
Hoping no one will see us.
We run back and return to the world.
We don’t say anything at first;
For a brief while no one knows but us;
We rejoin the group.
A room full of conversation
Begins to spin a bit more
As every sip tastes more like water.
Eight souls unite in friendship
And laugh and sing,
And eat unceremoniously,
Eat as though we’ve been so long without.
Hugs all around,
We all smile and wave;
The night was good.
Mindless entertainment, and sparse conversation;
We are all tired.
The time comes for sleep,
And I feel its warm embrace.
I let it slowly overtake.
Sleep at last cradles me in its arms.
I smile one last smile and drift away
Upon a leaf in a river,
Swaying ever so gently.
The undulating water carries me off
To places unknown,
Off to where my mind wishes to go,
To where my soul desires to roam,
To explore, to discover,
But what, I ask, is any more worthy of discovery,
Than my own human spirit?

I came home with this memory fresh in my mind and this is what came out. I'm not sure if it's all that good or not, but feedback would be appreciated.
