A special teacher tells her class a story.
Soundless Story

I sit down to begin my day's work.
The children hurry to find a place with a good view.
The twinkle in their eyes are very evident.
The silence in the room is like an empty auditorium.
My hands begin to rise.
My fingers move and fly and float in mid air.
The eyes of the children follow every twist and turn and flexion of my hands.
At some point their eyes reveal surprise and then amazement.
My movements become larger but still graceful.
Then my head, body and arms start to communicate as one.
My face lights up, my face dims down,
But my hands still continue its story.
I stop and wait.
The children shake their heads and smile.
The lesson was complete.
The deaf students heard every word that I said.
