Gabriella's Photographs, Public Art Exhibition
Central Park, NYC
These small photos are momentos of the Gates Exhibition, Central Park, New York City, 2005, conceived by husband and wife public art collaborators, Christo and Jeanne-Claude. This remarkable exhibition lasted for 16 days in February. The completed project consisted of 7,500 saffron-colored gates set up to form a beautiful ribbon of simple bright orange banners, hung at 12-foot intervals, along 23 miles of pedestrian walkways in New York's Central Park. I took these photographs in the park at the tail end of a snowstorm on an icy cold February day. These are just a few of the more than 100 photos I developed. Some of the most powerful photographs are not here because they were photographed to be displayed as large prints. This tiny handful of photographs are the shots that fared best when reduced in size for display here on W.Com.
