A street lyric
I was sitting in a club
Once with a girl from Iraq.
We talked about the war
And this
And that.
It seemed like we got on
I dunno
Maybe not
But there was something between us
We laughed
She looked hot.

We went on the dancefloor
I went for the kill
Then one of her mates
Asks me for a pill.
I said, “no sorry”
But she said I looked fucked
I have to admit
I took one that night.
The girl from Iraq looks at me
In disgust,
“So all that time
We were talking
You were fucked?”
I nodded my head
I couldn’t deny it
And she turned away
I lost her.

Now when I think back to that
I wish I’d said,
“Hey
Don’t judge me
Too harshly babe;
I’m just another fuck up
On my way to the grave.”
