Entry in Poetic Paradise Daily Challenge
I woke this morning, confused as hell
In the air was a horrible smell
I leapt out of bed and ran outdoors
A fire was raging, I screamed in horror.

I grabbed a hose and tried to fight
With all my neighbors, with all our might
But just as we had it under control
Lightning flashed and thunder rolled

The wind it whipped and blew the flames
Toward my house, though it started to rain
We ran for cover and started to pray
When a roaring noise headed our way.

I looked up in shock and what did I see?
A tornado, a cyclone, headed for me
I ran for the basement, screaming in fear
The fire was out but much worse was here.

I hid in my cellar, waited an hour
When I came up, the outcome was dour
My house was all gone, nothing left but a hole
I started to cry with my neighbor, Tim Dole

We wandered the neighborhood, staring in shock
Nothing was left, not even a sock
The tornado had taken all that we owned
Everyone cried, everyone moaned

Just when we'd thought that it couldn't get worse
A tremor was felt, Tim started to curse
"Oh no!" he cried. "For goodness' sake!"
Sure enough, a nine point earthquake

We fell to the ground, hanging on for dear life
I held on to Tim who held onto his wife
We all felt like kids, our fear was so great
When the shaking quit, it was quarter to eight

The few who survived through fire, wind and quake
Started to laugh and wail and shake
"What next?" we all thought, "could this even get worse?"
Mr. Robbins drove by in his grandfather's hearse

"That's a bad omen," Tim started to cry
We all looked up, in fear, at the sky
The wind started blowing, harder than ever
The rain started falling, such crazy weather

A hurricane brewed, we had nowhere to run
Our houses were totalled our lives were undone.
We sat on the ground giving up the lost fight
No one survived that horrible night.
