Part of the introduction to the story of Lady Kristana & her dragons
THE LAST DRAGON TO BE BORN INTO THIS WORLD SHALL LEAVE SOMETHING BEHIND SOMETHING THAT WILL CHANGE THE COURSE OF OUR LIVES.

I remember the day I arrived in the kingdom of Astarta as clearly as if it was yesterday. I had been
traveling on horseback for a good ten days. Now, I was sore all over and to make things worst it had been raining for past four hours; indeed for the whole final stretch before arriving into the famous citadel of Norwhin. I don't have to tell you how glad I was to finally spot one of the two impressively gargoyles posted at the famous citadel’s entrance to guard it against all evil spirits. I couldn’t help wondering how a dragon coming face to face with one of those massive monsters would feel and that brought a twinkle of a smile to my long drawn out face. I was so exhausted and at the same time so glad to have made it there! These were majestic bronze statues and I was sure they made all incoming voyagers feel the same way I did then. It felt like I was entering into a glorious kingdom and I sensed something very powerful between the metal beasts. I had been told that they protected the estimated two and a half thousand inhabitants who made up a little over half of
the town's population at any given time. The other half being mostly made up of travelers such as myself, strangers passing thru. “How famous the little stone city had become since king Gerard had begun ruling it almost half a century ago!” I thought.
Astarta was reputed to be the most mysterious kingdom and country in the world at that time and I knew that it owed this reputation to its immense and extremely dense forest.

When I finally set foot in the high grounds of the citadel, I just wanted to find a place to rest and I was told the "Raven's Nest" was the finest inn in all of the country. I could find all I wanted and more than I needed there; it truly had everything a traveler could ever wish for. So that's where I would spend the next couple of nights before actually going to the castle to make a special and very unusual delivery.

"THE LAST DRAGON TO BE BORN INTO THIS WORLD SHALL LEAVE SOMETHING BEHIND.
SOMETHING THAT WILL CHANGE THE COURSE OF ALL OUR LIVES." Read the sign nailed to an old oak tree that was my cue to turn left and head straight to the inn.
